Dear Readers,
This week, I want to let you know a bit about where I am with Ómós at this point and time. There is a very exciting and challenging year ahead, full of unknowns, opportunities, learnings and milestones. I look forward to sharing the progress with you as we dive deeper into the Ómós world and edge closer to our eventual opening date in the summer of 2026.
This newsletter has acted as a wonderful tool in communicating our thoughts and progress but I must admit to holding information back for two reasons. One, I feared sharing too much too soon would risk audience fatigue, and two, up until now the project has technically to some degree been at risk of falling through since legally nothing had been signed. To my relief, all is different now. The documents have been officially signed and sealed, put away in a cupboard and hopefully never to be seen again. Perhaps it seems bizarre that I am sharing this information with you but Ómós has always been deeply personal for me and I want to ensure that our community is personally connected to it too.
Building Dreams
Last week, I shared some renders of the restaurant and guesthouse, which up until now have been behind closed doors. The renders have now been erected outside the property. Here's me standing beneath them. A totally surreal moment.
The response to last week’s newsletter on what a guesthouse really means was fascinating, with many emails coming through my inbox. When I stated that the term denoted our future offering, it was met with both ‘yay’ and ‘nay’ sayers. Your messages came with alternative name suggestions such as ‘house’, ‘townhouse’, or even retaining the original name of the building ‘Millbrook’ – as in Ómós at Millbrook House. Many of you also supported the term guesthouse. Each one of your comments is appreciated, and while I also value your emails, it would be lovely to leave your messages in the Substack comments below so that our entire community can add to the conversation too. I understand that it must be daunting to publicly post a comment, however, I liken it to one day striking a conversation with a fellow guest at Ómós. You never know what will come of it…
